Rays of Hope Community Foundation (ROHCOF)

ROHCOF is a non-governmental organization which focuses on Health, Education and Empowerment. It was inaugurated in year 2000 and was registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 2004. ROHCOF was designed to provide: Innovative and Quality Health, Education, Economic Development and Social Protection Services to its target groups in collaboration with other organizations to improve their quality of lives. Our focus is on general population most especially children, teenagers & women who constitute a large percentage of our population and mostly neglected in policy formulation and implementations.We design and provide innovative and quality services [i.e. Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS, STI, Malaria and TB, Agriculture, Educational and Economic development) to our target groups in both rural and urban communities of Nigeria. This is in collaboration with the communities and other organizations.

MISSION

To achieve improvement in the quality of life of vulnerable groups through relevant education, innovative healthcare and livelihood programmes.

Objectives
• To carry out advocacy meetings to enhance the support of various opinion leaders in the effort to promote support to less privileged people in the community
• To provide Human right most especially children and women
• To enhance behavioural change in the community and risk reduction of complication associated with inadequate knowledge of reproductive health
• To provide an enabling environment where support and care can be rendered to less privileged
• To provide support and care for widows and orphans
• To network with other organizations both local and international
• To identify the challenges the adolescent and teenagers are facing, educate and mentor them through the phase of their lives

Strategies
• BEHAVIORAL LEVEL: Community outreaches, peer education, psychosocial support, adolescent one on one monitoring and counselling.
• BIOMEDICAL LEVEL: Demand creation for accessing and uptake of counselling, syndromic management of sexually transmitted infection.
• STRUCTURAL LEVEL: Advocacy and community mobilisation/sensitisation, routine monitoring and evaluation, empowerment, life skill training, guardianship, youth friendly environment and youth friendly activities

Our Campaigns, Our Pride

Over the years ROHCOF had been committed to the prevention, support and care for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and the rights of children. This is reflected in our yearly AHR & D and Orphan educative programme. Also the distribution of food items to the Orphan and vulnerable Children.
Our primary activities include:
• Effective participation in disease surveillance through workshops, seminars and symposia.
• Training in and out of school youths on how to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STIs.
• Supporting the government in the campaign for care, support programmes and prevention strategies for HIV/AIDS scourge in the country.
• Adolescent Reproductive Health and Development training programmes. • Community and campus based Awareness/Prevention Campaign Programme. • Campaign against Child Abused and Women’s Trafficking.
