Rays of Hope Community Foundation, in collaboration with Child Protection Network (CPN)
Rays of Hope Community Foundation, in collaboration with Child Protection Network (CPN) Ogun State, spoke on the topic “How Childhood Exposure to Violence Shapes Adult Relationships” on Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) 90.5FM on 27th May 2026.
During the session, the long-term effects of childhood exposure to violence were extensively discussed, highlighting how traumatic experiences in childhood can negatively affect emotional wellbeing, trust, communication, and relationships in adulthood.
The discussion also emphasized various forms of violence children may experience, including physical, emotional, psychological, and domestic violence, and how these experiences can shape behaviour and social interactions later in life.
Furthermore, protective factors and preventive measures that can help reduce the impact of violence on children were highlighted. These included the importance of safe family environments, emotional support, community awareness, access to counselling, positive parenting, and collective responsibility in protecting children from abuse and neglect.
The programme served as an avenue to raise awareness on child protection and promote healthier, safer environments for every child to thrive.
